West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to attend the 'One Nation One Election' committee meeting in New Delhi on February 6, following her participation in the inaugural day of the state budget session. Despite expressing disagreement with the concept of 'simultaneous elections' in a letter to the high-level committee last month, Banerjee will engage in discussions during the meeting. The West Bengal CM previously announced her Delhi visit during a protest demanding the release of central funds for the state, emphasizing her commitment to the dialogue on 'One Nation One Election.'
Banerjee highlighted that she has been approached by an expert committee seeking her opinion on the matter. The visit to Delhi comes amid strained relations between Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Congress within the opposition alliance 'India.' Banerjee's recent statements indicate that TMC is gearing up to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections independently in West Bengal, and she has expressed skepticism regarding Congress's ability to secure 40 seats nationwide in the general elections.
